Juniors continue on roll

May 28, 2014

The Jr Bellies continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, with an 11-5 win over rival Coquitlam Adanacs. The Bellies jumped out to an 6-1 first period lead enroute to the victory. Coquitlam mounted a comeback in the second period, but two key goals by Luke Gillespie and some tenacious defensive and loose ball work by Reese Robinson kept the visitors at bay. Mr Mikes Offensive Player of the Game, Johnny Pearson lead the Bellies with 3 goals, while goaltender Rocky Bowman won Mr Mikes Defensive Player of the Game.

Back on the winning track

May 21, 2014

The Jr Bellies got back on the winning track Tuesday night defeating the Burnaby Lakers 16-8. The Bellies dominated the game from the outset and held a 78-39 shot advantage over the Lakers, but struggled to score during the opening frame and went into the first intermission down 5-3.  Mr Mikes Offensive Player of the Game, Jeremy Bosher, opened the flood gates early in the 2nd period, enroute to a six goal period.  Our Mr Mikes Defensive Player of the Game went to Steve Ferdinandi for his hard-nosed play. Up next for the Jr Bellies is Coquitlam, Tuesday, May 27 at QPA.

You are all invited to attend the Sr Salmonbellies Home Opener, Thursday, May 22, as they play the Langley Thunder at 7:45PM.  It is Minor Lacrosse night so Queen's Park will be busy and energized!

Juniors stumble against Islanders

May 18, 2014

The Jr Salmonbellies put forth their poorest effort of the year and stumbled to an 12 - 6 loss to the Delta Islanders Saturday at Sungod Arena. The offense was held to less than 40 shots for the first time this season.  Up next are the improving Burnaby Lakers on Tuesday night, May 20, at 8:00PM.

Bellies move to 5 - 0

May 13, 2014

The Jr Bellies won their 5th straight game to start the 2014 season Tuesday. Led by Mr Mikes Offensive Player of the Game, rookie Adam Dickson, the Salmonbellies throttled the Port Coquitlam Saints 19-7. Defensive Player of the Game went to rookie Mitch MacAulay, a strong defensive player from Mission. "Standout" player of the game easily went to Quinn Mackay who was a force on both the defensive and offensive ends of the floor. Nice to have "Cool hand Luke" Gillespie back in the lineup tonight, running in tandem with brother Jesse.  Also making his debut in a Salmonbellie uniform tonight was UMass standout Aaron Madaisky. After being away from the box version of the game for a number of years, Aaron may have been the biggest surprise of the game for his tenacious defense and ability to run the floor.

Up next for the Jr A Salmonbellies is the Delta Islanders. Saturday, May 17, 7:30PM start time.
