The Jr Bellies travelled to Nanaimo on Saturday and came home with a hard fought 15-11 victory in overtime. First year Intermediate A, Max James, epitomized the "hard fought" nature of the game by going toe to toe with enforcer DJ Saari. The momentum gained during that tussle, brought the Salmonbellies back from an early deficit. Chris Nasato (Mr Mikes Offensive Player of the Game) popped in 5 goals in succession in the third period to force overtime while touted newcomer Jesse Gillespie was an immoveable force on defense to take home Mr Mikes Defensive POG honors.

The New Westminster Jr A Salmonbellies opened the 125th Anniversary season in style Thursday night (May 1) by defeating the Langley Thunder 8-2.  Mike Flintoff held his own in net and Intermediate A call-ups Jordan MacKenzie and Mitch Stokes played excellent games. Stokes scored twice and was dangerous all night, leading to his being named the Mr Mikes Offensive Player of the Game.  Veteran Steve Ferdinandi was a rock on defense and shut down Langley's Brett Dobray while being named the Defensive Player of the Game.
